Chinese Medicine

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete system of medicine with thousands of years of history. The most common modalities involved in Chinese Medicine include acupuncture, herbal medicines, moxibustion, gua sha, and cupping therapies. All of these modalities are designed to help restore balance to the body to increase health and well-being.

How does Traditional Chinese Medicine work?

TCM is based on the idea of Qi (pronounced chee) which is the vital energy that helps animate all aspects of the body. In TCM, it is believed that Qi moves through meridians or channels in the body to every part of the body. When disease arises, it is because an imbalance in the amount or proper movement of Qi. Treatments are designed to regulate the proper flow of Qi and allow the body to naturally heal itself.
